Pedi Surgeon Appointment...

We met with Dr. Danny Little at Temple Pediatric Specialty Clinic October 14th and he confirmed that Dylan does have a dermoid cyst on his right eyebrow...just like I did when I was a toddler!  He is concerned at the growth rate and would like to get it out as soon as possible before it causes any developmental issues with his skull.  Originally he said he could do it October 24th...that's next week!  But Auntie Kim is coming in from New York to meet the boys that weekend, so we scheduled it for November 10th instead.  The surgery shouldn't be more than 30 minutes and recovery should be minimal.  Kind of anxious to get it done, but I know it's what is best!  We talked about the issues it can cause in the future if we delay getting it removed, but I was more concerned about him having to be put under for the surgery.  My mom reminded me I had it done and everything was good, so to use that as a reassurance :)  Working so far!

Little Scare...

We had a bit of a scare yesterday!  Actually, it all started Sunday night.  I was laying with Colton in bed, picked him up to put him in his bed, and noticed something didn't feel right.  After I got him settled, I went to the bathroom and noticed that I had started bleeding.  I did spot a bit with Colton, but nothing like this... I was literally dripping blood!  It totally freaked me out, so I called my sister to get her opinion.  She said to keep an eye on it to see if the color/flow changed any over night, and if so to call the on call dr or go to the ER.  I watched it throughout the night and it didn't seem to be any worse, until I got up in the morning and started moving around.  The color darkened and started looking more like a period than spotting AND the cramps started shortly after.  I called the on call dr because the office wasn't open yet, and she said to call the office before noon (yeah like I'd wait that long!) and they would see me today to check it out.  I called right at 8 and got an appointment at 9:20.  I tried calling/texting Kyle to find out if he could meet me up there, and nothing...no answer no response no nothing!  FOR LIKE AN HOUR!! By the time he finally calls me...after I texted his friend to see if they were together...I was already at my moms working getting her so I wouldn't have to go alone to find out what was going on.  I yelled...ohhhhhh did I yell at that man!  On any normal day I understand his job and that he can't always have his cell on him, but not yesterday...yesterday it was totally unacceptable in my book!  Honestly he could have gotten fired for having it on him and I don't think I would have really cared!  Ok I probably would have cared today...but not yesterday.  So when I finally calm down and quit yelling at him, he says he's already in the truck on his way to the dr.  So my mom and I get there, get checked in, and go do vitals before going back to the exam room.  My bp was 154/117...yeah not good haha!  Nervous much?!?  We go back to the room and the dr comes in shortly...still no Kyle...he works about 20-25 minutes from the office.  He jumps right to the ultrasound to check everything; that was the longest 30-60 seconds of. my. life. Until he smiles and says well the baby looks good and has a strong heartbeat.  Tears rolled down my face, and I looked at my mom and she let out a huge sign of relief and said thank you.  (Funny how uncontrollable scared tears can switch so quickly to tears of joy!) Mom got to see the baby and the heartbeat, and we talked with the dr a few minutes about why this happens and what to expect.  The front desk paged the room and said Kyle was there, so we waited a minute and he came in and was able to see the baby too; he didn't get to be at the ultrasound last week since he was out of town so this was the first time for him to see it.

The doctor told us that this bleeding isn't anything to worry about, but is classified as a 'threatened miscarriage' meaning that while there is nothing to worry about this is still a chance I could miscarry.  I understand there is a chance of that, the only thing that takes away all changes of miscarriage is birth!  He said the changes of me having a miscarriage is about 3% since we have seen the baby and it has a strong heartbeat, and that if he could give us a 0% he would but can't.  So while that is somewhat reassuring, it is somewhat stressful as well.  I'm going to try not to worry though, because it is all in Gods hands, and I will do what I can do help make it as healthy of a pregnancy as I can...and part of that is to not stress!  On a plus side...I got to see my little peanut again!

Meet Baby #2

I went to my first doctors appointment Tuesday and got to meet our little peanut!  Unfortunately Kyle was out of town with work, and wasn't able to go, but he gets to 'meet' the peanut in a for real picture (not just a text of the picture) tonight when he gets home!  World meet peanut...peanut world!

Peanut 2014

We have a due date of September 6, 2014!  If this one follows suit with Colton, it will hopefully be an August baby :) I had it figured as 7w3d and measure 7w1d, so I wasn’t off too much!  If you look closely you can see where the leg and arm buds are…DR said they should be real arms in the next week or so.  I got to see the heartbeat flutter, although it isn’t loud enough yet to be able to hear it…that comes at our next appointment at 12 weeks.  Check out the comparison of Colton’s at 6w1d, crazy how much 7 shorts days changes in their world so much!

I have been feel nauseated off and on for the last couple of weeks, and have developed a strange…yes strange…food aversion.  I can’t eat baked chicken!  I mean I literally can’t eat it!  I tried fried chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-a and was able to eat them, but later that day I ate with my parents and they had crockpot chicken breast and I couldn’t eat those.  That’s 4 times already that I haven’t been able to each baked/pan cooked chicken…just the fried that one time!  I LOVE chicken and cook it a lot, so I’m hoping this is temporary and doesn’t last too long; with Colton I couldn’t eat yogurt the entire pregnancy.  I have noticed as well that my parents are starting to get a little tighter, but I’m sure it’s just bloat since the peanut is so small :) my DR did say that I would show sooner with this one since it is my second and my uterus and stomach muscles know what to do…so this could be interesting!

Tubes...

Well yesterday was the big day!  Colton officially has tubes in his ears, and I couldn't more excited!  I hope this keeps ear infections at bay and that we can move past the last couple of months.  Everything went great with the surgery and his recovery.

We got to the surgical center at 6:30am to finish filling out paperwork.  Must admit I read every inch of that paperwork!  When I have medical paperwork to fill out on myself, I skim it and initial/sign where they tell me to.  Not yesterday, yesterday I read every square inch and every word on those papers; I wanted to know exactly what I was signing for him.  What was I promising not to make them liable for, what exactly are all the possible side effect/reactions, everything!  After everything was signed, they took us back to do his vitals.  It was funny, they took his weight (a whooping 22.8lbs!), Kyle picked him up and the nurse looked up and says 'Oh my God' starts laughing and says 'You are definitely your daddy's baby!'  It's always funny to see people's reactions when they realize how much Kyle and Colton look alike :)  Anyway, then we had all the 'talks' with the nurses, ENT doctor, and anesthesiologist about the procedure and what to expect afterwards.  The nurse came and took Colton from us, which was super hard on mommy, and we went back to the consult room to wait for them to come get us afterwards.  I sat down, looked at the clock on my phone, it was 7:43am.  A little bit later the ENT doctor comes in and tells us how surgery went. He walked out, I looked at my clock again, it was 7:50am.  You read that right...7:50am! The entire thing took less than 10 minutes!  They then came back, got us, and took us to Colton's bedside so we could wait for him to wake up.  It took a few minutes, but when he came out of the sleep he jolted and woke up.  He was a little disoriented, groggy, and fussy.  I picked him up, gave him a bottle of juice, and talked to him; he calmed right down.  The nurse said he must be a great baby because most come out of the sleep crying and are hard to console...nope not my trooper he rocked it!  We had to wait for them to release him, that wait was actually longer than the actual procedure.  After we were released, we loaded up and head home.  By the time we got home the anesthesia had completely wore off and he went right to playing with his toys!  They had said he would maybe be groggy or cranky in the morning, but by afternoon would be back to normal, and he was back to normal within a couple hours of surgery.  He is such a big boy and trooper.  Mommy and Daddy were so proud!

Momma I can't find anything to play with...

Bump-Date: Week 38

Baby Size: 19.5"
Baby Weight: 6.8 lb
*********************
Today was my 38 week appointment, and I am still at the same as I was last week; 90% effaced and dilated 1cm.  It really sucked to go in and not have any progress since last week.  Even if I would have gone to 2cm that would have been some type of progress.  So the DR told me he'd see me next Friday unless I surprise him and come earlier this week...but he didn't see like that was very promising.  I'm guessing he was off a little by saying it would be a May baby and that it would be within 2 weeks.  Again, a little bummed, but I guess it is better the longer he stays in there baking!  Like my sister said, I just need to enjoy the me time, time alone with Kyle, not changing diapers, and only having to wipe my own butt!!  Haha!!

I am still pretty miserable this week, but that's to be expected...just ready for him to be here!

Bump-Date: Week 37

Friday was a rather busy day.  I went to my little brothers high school graduation breakfast, shopping with my mom, to my mom's doctors appointment, then to my 37 week appointment.  At this appointment I found out that I'm 90% thinned and 1 cm dilated.  I was secretly hoping to be further along, but I can't rush my body I guess...not matter how much I try.  My mom and sister ask after each appointment if the dr said how big Colton is, and as always I forget...BUT since mom was there with me she remembered to ask.  He said that he thinks he's about 7-7.5 lbs right now...which assuming I carry to 40 weeks that puts him around 8.5lbs when we deliver...give or take a little.

So how am I feeling...miserable!  The novelty has long worn off and been replaced with swelling, sleepless nights, cramps, braxton hicks, and annoying questions from everyone and their dog!  When I was first pregnant the questions didn't bother me, but now I get the same questions every day and it's rather annoying.  Want to know the kicker?!?  I tell them it annoys me and they still keep asking!!  For whatever reason it doesn't bother me when certain people ask questions, but there are some people that it just irritates the hell out of me!!  Then they make some comment about being grumpy, in a bad mood, hormonal...something....and it makes me want to smack them haha!  I mean I understand people have questions and wonder, but geez asking me every 5 minutes how I feel doesn't do anything but irritate me even more.  I guess if they would actually listen when I say quit asking that would be one thing, but when they totally ignore it that's another...

One thing I know for sure...I'm ready for Colton to make his appearance...so baby c'mon!!! :)

Just saw this and LOVE it!!

36 Week Appointment

Baby Size: 18.5"
Baby Weight: 6 lb
*********************
I had my 36 week appointment today and the doctor said Colton has dropped!  Not only has he dropped, but my cervix has dropped and is starting to thin.  The doctor said that based on what he 'typically' sees he doesn't see me making it 2 more weeks much less make it to my due date!  A little scary, freaky, exciting, and anxious all at the same time.  I still have so much to do!  I'm going to pack my hospital bag and Colton's stuff tonight.  Then finish getting his room ready tomorrow :)  Super excited!!!!!

October 21...so close yet so far....

We go for the confirmation appointment, and to hopefully see the heartbeat, on October 21.  It seems so close, only 16 days away...yet it feels sooooo far away!  I am hoping the next couple weeks fly by, but my schedule at work looks pretty open so it will probably drag on and on and on.  I'm just so excited!  AHHH
