Long Night...

Last night was a long night...we had a couple friends over for burgers.  After everyone left I gave Colton a bath and went to put him in bed.  When I was carrying him to his bed, my water broke (so I thought).  I called the on call doctor to let her know we were heading in, called my mom, dropped Colton off with my parents, and headed to Labor and Delivery.  Once there, they hooked me up to the monitors and did an amnio test.  I was having mild contractions, but nothing consistent, and I was still a 3 like I was on Thursday.  We waited and waited for the amnio test to come back, and when it came back they said it was negative.  I was totally confused. I was sitting in a puddle of fluid, fluid was leaking down my legs, and soaking wet.  They said, no sorry, it isn't amniotic fluid, and is most likely pee.  I was so mad!  I stood up to get dressed and more fluid went down my leg puddling on the floor.  The nurse was totally confused as well at this point.  So they ran another amnio test.  Again after waiting and waiting, it came back negative.  Turns out I sat in triage for like 3-4 hours to find out that since Dylan dropped he was putting a ton of pressure on my bladder, causing me to leak almost continually, with no control.  Their recommendation?  Bladder control liners until delivery.  Great..haha!  Home we went...baby-less! Come on Baby D!

I'm doing what in my pants?!?

Baby Size: 17"
Baby Weight: 4 lb

My appointment Thursday went great!  Dylan kept kicking the doppler when the dr was trying to listen to his heartbeat...apparently he didn't like it :)  Everything is still going great!  I have noticed that I am get tired out more easily and have a difficult time catching my breath when I walk a lot, but that is to be expected.  It is becoming more painful when he moves around too, but he's running out of room in there so I understand!  Still crazy to feel this little being moving around in there, don't know that it would amaze me any less if I was pregnant 20 times instead of 2!  The time crunch has definitely hit me, so I have a long to-do and to-buy list going.  Kyle was out of town for work for 2 weeks, so I didn't really even touch Dylan's room.  I hope to hit it hard and heavy in the next week or so, so I can start tying up loose ends and getting everything ready...not too much longer!  Here are a couple of belly pics :)

Yeah so apparently life/time goes by so much faster with pregnancy 2+!  I didn't realize that it had been over a month since I last did an update.  All is well though!  Baby boy is growing as expected, and I have finally begun to get a belly, so yay!  Colton turned 2, which is pure craziness to think that he is already 2!!  Seems like just yesterday we were starting the journey with him, and here I am starting to see the light at the end of the pregnancy #2 tunnel!  Time goes by so fast, so be sure to treasure every moment that you have :)

Bump-Date #2: Week 12

Baby Size: 2"; Lime
Baby Weight: 0.5oz
------------------------

This week has been great!  I have been feeling good...starting to get some energy back :) Poor Colton has an ear infection and RSV, so I was home with him for a couple days, but other than that all is going good! We had our 12 week check up yesterday and go to hear the little bean's heartbeat; 163bmp and strong!  We go back in 4 weeks, and at that appointment we will make the ultrasound appointment to hopefully find out if it's a he or she...so less than 6 weeks away!  I remember when I was pregnant with Colton everything seemed to take longer.  The first trimester never seemed like it would end, and hearing 6 more weeks until finding the gender seemed like an eternity.  Now it's like only 6 weeks!  This pregnancy is flying by so much faster, and I'm really enjoying that to be honest :)

Here's my first bump picture...I've been bad this go round about taking pictures, but I will be better!

Fears...

So as the week progresses I keep thinking about what my doctor said at my appointment last week and wonder where I will be at my appointment on Friday.  I'm going to be highly disappointed if I go in Friday and there are no changes, but hey, it's possible!  It's also possible that just because my dr thinks I'm going to have him early that I may have him late...just my luck!

The more days that pass I have more fears that keep coming up.   I have this fear that I'll be in labor and just not know for some reason.  Or that I'll be taking a shower when my water breaks and I won't know it broke or something crazy like that.  I know it's all stupid fears, but oh well!!  I also worry that I won't know what a real contraction is.  I've googled and read about them, but reading about them versus really having them are two different things.  PLUS there are so many different things that can be considered 'contractions' or 'labor.'  Contractions don't have to hurt, and they don't have to be just in your uterus...I read a few minutes ago you can have contractions in your lower back.  UGH!  So confusing.  Then when you ask someone all they say is 'you'll know.'  How the hell am I suppose to 'know' when I don't know what to even watch for?!?  They seriously need a pre-labor/labor for dummies book!  It could tell you all the things to look for, and hell, I don't know, give you a comparison on what it feels like so you'll know!  I know I'm freaking out...I know...half of the battle is admitting you have a problem...now the other half is making it to the hospital without having my baby at home or in Walmart...

Oh heaven help Colton :)

Bump-Date: Week 32

Baby Size: 16.7"; Large Jicama
Baby Weight: 3.75 lb
*********************
Ugh!  That's the best way I can describe this week!!  I have been sooooo exhausted :( I don't do much (other than grow my unborn child) and I get so worn out.  I mowed grass Saturday morning/early afternoon, and it knocked me out the rest of the day.  I'm guessing I won't be mowing grass much longer...darn! haha!

Tuesday we went to our first child birth class...didn't really learn anything I didn't already know.  I was expecting it to be like my mom use to talk about, where they teach you breathing techniques and such, but all we did was listen/watch a powerpoint presentation the L&D nurse did.  We have three total classes; Tuesday nights for 3 weeks.  This next week we are suppose to go over C-sections and issues with labor.  I want to ask her about my placenta, and if she thinks it will cause any issues during labor.  I really want to talk to my dr about it, but I'm not totally sure how to ask.  I understand that issues can arise in a normal pregnancy and a c-section may be needed, but I'm curious if he thinks my placenta being low will cause any issues.  What are the chances of issues?  If there can be issues, what is his limit on how far he'll let me go?  If I have a c-section, what is his view on natural delivery for #2?  I tried to talk with him about it before, and he said it was still too soon to tell.  Now I'm 7 weeks away at the most (hopefully) and I'm getting concerned.  Not 'concerned' but anxious about knowing/not knowing what to expect.  My next appointment is May 1st, so I'll try to talk with him about it again.  Hopefully I can get some answers then, if not I'll talk to the L&D nurse at birth class about it that night I guess.

I'm also still having cramping and braxton hicks periodically.  The cramps seem to begetting worse every couple days, and happen a few times a day; the braxton hicks aren't as frequent and are painless.  I asked my dr about the cramping at my last appointment and he said it's everything just getting geared up for delivery.  Before labor you can experience two things, cramping and/or braxton hicks...I happen to get both; cramping just more than the braxton hicks.  Oh and I'm still swelling too :(  My feet swell all the time!!  I know it's just getting geared up, so hopefully it stays in the feet and lower legs...sure don't want it moving up to the rest of my body!!

Bump-Date: Week 31

Baby Size: 16.25"; Pineapple
Baby Weight: 3.3 lb
*********************
This week we relatively easy, I've just been super tired, not sleeping well at night, and my feet/ankles are starting to swell more!  If I walk...period...they swell now, and it's to the point that it is making them sore.  Ugh!  I also feel like this heat wave that has hit our area is taking it's toll...ok maybe not quite a heat wave, it's gotten up into the 80s, but damn it feels like it's about 101 out there!!!  I have turned into a total hot box and I am usually pretty cool/cold, but not anymore.  I'm also not sleeping well, I can't sleep an entire night through, and I'm super pooped all day!  I just wish I could sleep!!

Had a lady at work this week ask me how I've been feeling and I told her great just tried.  She went on to say the first trimester is the worst so I would brighten up and not feel so tired in a few weeks...I told her I didn't think that would really happen.  She asked why, I said because I'm due in 8 weeks and her jaw dropped!!  It was hil-arious!!  She was like I had no idea you were that far along, you don't look like it at all...then the conversation turned to how the baby was going to be small and on and on...ugh!  Just because I'm not a blimp doesn't mean I'm going to have a super small baby or that he won't be healthy...just means I'm not a blimp! haha :)

Well here's some new pics :)

Crazy day in L&D...

Before I begin, I must give a bit of background...Last week my sister went to the DR and found out she was dilated to a 3 and could go any day now, but they went ahead and scheduled to induce her April 13th in case he wasn't here by then.  ALSO, the last few days I have been having a pain below by belly button; it hurts when I sit, stand, lay, Colton moves...pretty much all the time.

OK now on to today...so this morning I get a wake up call around 5:30 from my sister that her water had broke and she was at the hospital waiting to get hooked up to all the machines.  After we talked for a few minutes I wasn't able to go back to sleep, and got up to eat breakfast and get ready for work.  I ate, got a little nauseous, and got ready for work.  As I was up and moved around more the pain progressively got worse.  I went into work and called the doctors office as soon as they open at 8am. I left them a message describing my pain and the issues I was having.  I hadn't heard back from them by 10:30 so I called again and told them the pain was worse and spreading down my right abdomen.  ...Mind you my sister is in labor during all this...so the doctors office calls me right back to get more information.  They take my information and say they will call me back after they report to my doctor.  They called back and told me I had two options; report to labor & delivery for evaluation (which my doctor highly recommended), or two I could try to get an appointment with the on call doctor.  I asked since he recommended going in, so I really have a choice, and she pretty much said no...haha!  So I tell them I'll head right over.  I try to call Kyle and tell him, but of course since I need him he didn't have his cell with him and wasn't at his desk.  I then called my sister to tell her that I was headed over there, but not to see her, to get admitted myself.  Her husband texted me and said to come see her first, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see her until they let me out.  So I went and told her hi and give her my love, and she was dilated to a 6...this was 10:45.  I went to admitting, and she texted me at 11:15 to say she was a 9!!  By the time I got to triage and got hooked up she was pushing!!  So here we are, she's in labor, literally like 4 rooms away from me, and I'm in triage getting hooked up to fetal monitors to figure out why I'm in pain.  I told the nurse that came in that my sister was a few rooms away in labor; she responded and said that she was just in there and the baby was probably already here!!!  I got a text from my brother in law a few minutes later and Mr. Logan had made his appearance!!  What are the chances that she would be in labor and I'm in triage getting checked out?!?!?  Crazy!!!

So Kyle finally gets there and we sit....and sit...and sit...monitors are all hooked up and they are waiting to see if the pain worsens and to get some lab work back.  Kyle ends up going back to work after a couple hours, but goes to meet Logan before he leaves.  My nurse kept coming in and checking on me, and I told her I wish I could see my nephew and sister.  So she calls my sisters nurse and asks her to stop by when they move them to post labor/delivery.  A few minutes later there was a knock on my door and in wheeled my sister and nephew!  He was sooooo stinkin' cute!  I couldn't hold him because they were literally putting in my IV when they came in.  So I could just look, but it was great to see him and to see my sister was ok :)  OK, so all is good there...10 fingers, 10 toes, and labor was minimal!! Seriously, her water broke at 3am and he was born just after 11am!  Her husband said she only pushed for about 10-15 minutes...so glad it was easy on her and him!

Well I'm still sitting there...alone...in pain hooked up to this machine, just waiting to see if the IV helps the pain and contractions stop...when the on call dr came in to check me vaginally it made minimal contractions turn into mild/moderate contractions because apparently when you check the cervix it releases hormones that can cause contractions.  So they just wanted to get them down and back leveled out...they still didn't know what was causing my pain.  After a couple more hours of pain, boredom, and wishing I could be with my sister who was just down the hall, they finally decided that they weren't sure what was causing the pain.  They had ruled out a UTI and kidney infection, but couldn't rule out my appendix or a possible bowel obstruction.  So since the contractions had calmed down, and Colton was ok, they released me.  Once released, I went straight to my sisters room and officially met my nephew!!

So today was a long, stressful, yet joyful and glorious day!  I woke up in bed with a pain that I wasn't sure what was causing it, and now I'm laying in bed in pain and not sure what's causing it...basically I'm not any further ahead going to bed as when I crawled out this morning.  But I know Colton is ok, and my sister/brother in law welcomed a new addition!  So a great day, but stressful day as well :)  Goodnight all!!

Bump-Date: Week 28

Baby Size: 14.8"; Chinese Cabbage
Baby Weight: 2.5 lb
*********************
Well this was my first 'official' week of the third trimester and I must say with sadness that the  fatigue is coming back.  I feel like I hit a wall mid-morning, get a pick me up around lunch, then hit the wall again around 4 and I'm down for the count!  I was tired a few weeks in the first trimester, so I'm hoping this will be temporary as well.  I am getting wore out so quickly...it's like I'm going another human in there or something :P  I am also experiencing shortness of breath and I have gotten to where I can't breathe when I bend over to pick something up or put my shoes on.  Kyle and I are bad people and eat supper in front of the TV...we have vowed to stop when we have kids and start eating at the table so only a few more weeks...anyway, before when I would sit on the couch I could set my plate on the coffee table and eat.  I now have to set my plate on a pillow in my lap so I don't have to bend over!!  Pitiful I know...you'd think we'd make the switch over to the table now, but I'm holding out!!  Our poor Molly can no longer look up at me while I eat and she sits under the table...she has to move to the side so she can see me and so I can see her...she thinks I forget she's there and won't give her anything if I don't 'see' her!  Spoiled!!  Oh well, I guess the third trimester may be my worst...can't complain though the other two we so very nice to me :)

Today's Appt

Today I had my glucose test, an appointment, and got my Rh shot.  The glucose test went ok; I won't know the results for a few days.  The appointment went good!  He said that it appears that my placenta has moved from my cervix and appears to be out of the way, but that it will ultimately be my primary doctor's call on how to deliver...my normal OB/GYN is out for 6 weeks for shoulder surgery :) hopefully he'll have his shoulder in prime catching condition when Colton comes!! haha! So basically I have to wait until my doctor comes back April 13th to find out what he recommends.  Which if he says all is good and we have no complications to worry about then we will proceed as normal and let Colton come when he's ready.  Otherwise, if he recommends a c-section we will schedule it when he says we need to.  Either way it doesn't matter to me, of course I would prefer a natural birth, but ultimately I want what is best and safest for Colton and I.  So whatever my doctor says I will do!  I have another appointment in 2 weeks with a different doctor...all the doctors are pitching in and covering his patients until he gets back...but I can't wait until he's back :) he's just awesome!

Bump-Date: Week 27

Baby Size: 14.5"; Head of Cauliflower
Baby Weight: 2-2.5 lb
*********************

This week was a very active wee for both me and Colton!  I got the nursery started, painted, and the furniture assembled.  All I really have left now is to decorate and change my mind 50 million times. :)

Colton has been extra active this week.  His kicks/hits are getting stronger and more intense, but not painful unless he hits certain areas.  I have also had some pains that I think are just stretching pains.  It got pretty rough a couple of days, but nothing I couldn't handle!  The belly seems to have halted on growth, but that's ok...means stretch marks will remain minimal!

Please ignore the paint on my shorts...I had been touching up
the nursery and those are my painting shorts :)

2nd Ultrasound

Thursday I had my second ultrasound to check the location of the placenta again...hoping it moved out of the way!  I was anxious thinking we  would leave knowing where it was, but the tech said I have to wait until next week to get the 'official' report from the doctor...boo!  I just want to know where it is and what the chances are of me needing a c-section...dang previa!

On a better note...we got to see Colton!  This time he was much more cooperative, and we were able to get a profile shot of him :)  Such a cutie if you ask me!  My little brother...I say little he's 17 almost 18...went with me to town and we met Kyle at the appointment and he was able to go back with us and see the ultrasound.  He said it was a little weird but cool too!  I don't know if he really enjoyed it or not, but it meant a lot to me that he was there to see Colton :)  Goodness has my little man grown so much since January!!  He's so big, and we actually got a picture of him with his hand in his mouth, and could see his mouth moving and his eyes blinking.  I told my mom about that, and she said it's amazing how much ultrasounds have advanced since my brother was born almost 18 years ago.  June's coming up quick!!

Nursery: Day 3

This morning I got up, cleaned up the painting supplies, picked up the drip clothes, put the face plates back, and did some minor touch ups on the ceiling and wall in a couple places.  Then, I cleaned the carpets in our bedroom and Colton's room.  I thought this would be relatively easy, which is was thanks to my parents letting me borrow their carpet cleaner...but it what surprised me was how disgusting the floor was!! The cleaner has a catch tank where all the dirty water goes, and it looked like chocolate milk!  Nasty!! You don't realize how dirty it really is, and how much your vacuum misses until you use a steam cleaner...

Excuse the mirror on the dresser...it's going bye bye

After that, I gave it a few hours to dry (for the most part) and I hung the blinds back up and...drum roll please...put the crib together!  Yep, I put the crib together...solo...ok I had some help...

Miss Molly made herself comfy on the packing from the crib and 'supervised' :)

It didn't take as long as I thought it would, only about 30-45 minutes.  I could have used an extra set of hands, but I improvised and used the wall since Kyle was in the pasture plowing.  It turned out super cute, and matches the dresser perfectly! I did manage to put a ding or two in it while assembling, but I think they can be touched up :)

Ta-Da!!
After the crib was done, I moved the changing table and end table in, but didn't take pictures because I'm not sure where I'm putting them yet.  I also finished the letters to hang on the wall too.  I bought 6" letters at JoAnn's and painstakingly wrapped them in brown yarn.  Never again...ok ok I say that, they are super cute so I may do other letters later

Way to turn my spring break ta'do list into a ta'done list.

Nursery: Day 2

Today was super productive and tiring!  I got up this morning and headed to town.  I started out at JoAnn's fabric store getting the "C" for Colton's name...I went last week and got all the other letters, but they were out of the "C".  I ran to the mall and hit up a sale at Kohls; must say I didin't do too bad at all :)  After a quick trip to Dollar General, I ended at Home Depot.  I bought paint/supplies and special ordered a new rug for the living room.  I've been looking for one, and for some reason this one stood out to me today...I'll post pics when it comes in within the next week or so.  I headed home and set out to start painting; I was convinced that I could get the room painted today!

I moved stuff around the room, and taped the drip sheet to the base boards.  I then taped around the doors and windows and took down the blinds...and the painting started!  It took most of the afternoon/evening, and with a little help from my brother Jacob, I was able to get it done!  The entire room is painted!!  I left everything pulled away from the walls and the drip cloth down so I could look at it again tomorrow and make any needed touch ups.

I will say after doing this all day, painting is not a pregnant chicks work!  I vow, that any of my family/friends that need a nursery painted when they are 7 months pregnant, I will be there and you can supervise!! It straight up kicked my ass.  Up and down off the floor, up and down the ladder, it was just too much.  I had to stop and rest a lot and then kept getting super hot.  Ugh never again!  But hey the room looks good :)
From the door, don't mind everything pulled into the middle of the room :)

Nursery: Day 1

I work at the local Community College, and when the college closes my office closes as well; so that means this week I'm on Spring Break!!  Woohoo! With this being the only full week I will have off until Colton is born I have a big to do list to get his room ready :)  Today marked day one of the adventure...

I didn't take any 'before' pictures, but I do have a couple I have posted below after I got everything cleaned out.  Today I:
  • went through all the junk in the room
  • moved the baby stuff out of the room into the extra bedroom--the travel system, crib/crib mattress, various baby things I have
  • moved the Christmas decorations and tree, queen sized bed, mattress & box springs to my newly completed shed :)
I know it doesn't sound like much, but goodness I am sore and wore out!!  I know I will defiantly feel it more tomorrow.  Here's the product of day one...

This week the swelling started!  My feet seem to swell almost everyday at some point...seems to be really bad when I walk to stand too long.  I am still having issues sleeping, but I'm finding myself not as tired if that makes sense.  I'm not sure if that means my body is use to it, or if I'm just so exhausted I don't notice anymore.

Swelling

Oh how the swelling is starting..my poor ankles are now cankles and my little piggies are sausages!  I hope this doesn't last too long, but secretly I realize it's only just beginning.  My ankles are swollen to the point that it is uncomfortable and painful in some positions.  It seems to help when I elevate my feet, and thanks to a friend a work I have a box to prop my feet on at my desk :) thanks Jackie!!  I guess I'll start drinking water by the gallon and see if that helps relieve it any...goodness I hope so...my feet look so pathetic! :P

Bedding!

I got the bedding for Colton's room Saturday! Originally I was planning on purchasing it from Burlington in Waco, but when I went with my mom to pick it up a couple weeks ago they didn't have it.  When I asked about order it, they said it could take between 2 and 20 weeks...well I don't have 20 weeks! So I had just told myself I was going to have to pay full price for it from somewhere else, and not get to use my 20% off coupon for Burlington.  Well, Saturday we went to Arlington for the PBR at Cowboy's Stadium, and I googled Burlington locations in Arlington and found one just south of the stadium.  I called them up and found out they had 3 in stock!!!  I ran outside and show Kyle and 'alternate' route to the stadium and asked if we could stop and pick it up, of course he said yes...how could he not?!?!?  We got there, I ran inside, grabbed it off the shelf and made a V-line for the check out.  I was sooooooo happy, Kyle just smiled and said whatever makes me happy :) So now I have it! Plus...it's WAYYYY cuter in person!!

Ugh I hate to report, but the insomnia is still showing its ugly face! I have such a difficult time sleeping and when I can sleep I have a hard time staying asleep!  I want to give a quick update on the status of the shed project :)

I am happy to report that Kyle is almost done with the shed! I made out a to-do list a week or so ago of everything I want to do over Spring Break; I work at a Community College so we close for a week when the students leave campus :)  Everything on my list revolved around Colton's room in some way, shape, or form.  A day or so after I left the list out, he started working on the shed; so I'm not sure if he saw the list and decided to start on it more, or if it's just a conscience, but I'm happy either way!

Belly Picture...

This weekend my sister was in town and we were all hanging out at my parents.  I was in the kitchen cooking meat for super nachos, rubbing my belly and my dad walks up and starting rubbing his belly.  We both turn and look at my sister and mom.  They laugh and my sister joins in with us :) mom pulled out the camera and snapped this picture of the three pregnant bellies in the family...I love it!!  I love how dad has his arms :) Due dates left to right: June 10 (25 weeks), April 20 (32 weeks), 1984/1987/1994.
