I had my 38 week appointment today and there was no progress! Still dilated to a 3 thinning. My doctor said that we would talk about inducing, but apparently my cervix isn't ready even though it is thinning; something about it isn't soft enough yet? Anyway, he said he would see me next week...yay! I am ready for Dylan to be here! I have felt like poo for the last week, exhausted more than normal, feeling horrible, and just all around not feeling like myself. Hopefully Baby D comes soon!!

Baby Dylan is doing great! I had my 28 week appointment yesterday, which included the awesome glucose and Rhogam shot, so the day was full of awesomeness haha! I did get a sneak peek at him too, so I was super excited about that :) I had some bleeding earlier this week and called the on call doctor since it was after hours and she said it can be normal at this point during pregnancy, but to mention it at yesterdays appointment. So about an hour before the appointment I started having horrible braxton hicks that stopped me in my tracks for a bit and moved around to my back. When they finally stopped I was cramping and my back was still sore. I mentioned it to my doctor when I was there and he wanted to do an ultrasound to check my cervix and make sure I wasn't dilating too soon. Everything looked great (even told me to eat ice cream to get my blood sugar back up after the glucose test...doctors orders!!), and Dylan's little head was right on top of my cervix; so I got to see his head and little profile :) made my heart flutter a little to get a sneak peek!!

Goodness I have been slacking on my blogging! I have been super tired and busy the last couple weeks. Everything is starting to make me anxious and I feel like I am running out of time to get everything finished before Colton gets here in a few weeks. I have furiously been working on the nursery getting things unpacked, washed, arranged, and put there I think I want them to go...some of that will probably change once he's here and we find better places for things :) I'm scared, anxious, and excited all at one time!!
I have been complaining for the past few weeks about swelling and I am saddened to report that has not gotten any better...if anything it is worse! Some laugh because my ankles disappear some days, but it's all part of the game I guess :) Braxton hicks are few an far between, but the cramping is daily. It feels like period cramping, but instead of it lasting all day, it lasts for a few minutes to a few hours then goes away, and comes back. My doctor said that's just everything getting geared up for delivery so it isn't anything to be concerned with unless they get regular or unbearable.
Speaking of the doctor, I talked with him at my appointment last week about the results from my last ultrasound...I know it's been over a month since I got it done, but he was out having shoulder surgery so we haven't had a chance to talk about it. Anyway, my placenta is 2cm away from the cervical opening, and that is apparently far enough that he is confident we will not need to schedule a c-section!! I understand things can go wrong/unplanned during delivery that can cause a c-section, but for now it appears like the placenta shouldn't be the issue! He said they will monitor is more closely during delivery since it is low lying to ensure it isn't causing any issues for my or the baby, but other than that all should be good :) Woohoo!!!!
We have officially finished our child birthing classes! I don't feel like there was a lot that I took away from the class because most of what we went over I knew from family or from experience with others babies :) I also took a breastfeeding class that really has me excited to try breastfeeding! I was always one to say heck no to breastfeeding because I was worried about personal reasons rather than health reasons for Colton, but as it gets closer I realize that it is the best thing for him; especially at first! I'm not sure that I will be able to do it long term just based on the amount my mom and sister were able to produce, but I am going to give it a shot. The class really taught me a lot that I didn't know...which was practically nothing about breastfeeding...and like I said got me excited to try!!

Ugh! That's the best way I can describe this week!! I have been sooooo exhausted :( I don't do much (other than grow my unborn child) and I get so worn out. I mowed grass Saturday morning/early afternoon, and it knocked me out the rest of the day. I'm guessing I won't be mowing grass much longer...darn! haha!
Tuesday we went to our first child birth class...didn't really learn anything I didn't already know. I was expecting it to be like my mom use to talk about, where they teach you breathing techniques and such, but all we did was listen/watch a powerpoint presentation the L&D nurse did. We have three total classes; Tuesday nights for 3 weeks. This next week we are suppose to go over C-sections and issues with labor. I want to ask her about my placenta, and if she thinks it will cause any issues during labor. I really want to talk to my dr about it, but I'm not totally sure how to ask. I understand that issues can arise in a normal pregnancy and a c-section may be needed, but I'm curious if he thinks my placenta being low will cause any issues. What are the chances of issues? If there can be issues, what is his limit on how far he'll let me go? If I have a c-section, what is his view on natural delivery for #2? I tried to talk with him about it before, and he said it was still too soon to tell. Now I'm 7 weeks away at the most (hopefully) and I'm getting concerned. Not 'concerned' but anxious about knowing/not knowing what to expect. My next appointment is May 1st, so I'll try to talk with him about it again. Hopefully I can get some answers then, if not I'll talk to the L&D nurse at birth class about it that night I guess.
I'm also still having cramping and braxton hicks periodically. The cramps seem to begetting worse every couple days, and happen a few times a day; the braxton hicks aren't as frequent and are painless. I asked my dr about the cramping at my last appointment and he said it's everything just getting geared up for delivery. Before labor you can experience two things, cramping and/or braxton hicks...I happen to get both; cramping just more than the braxton hicks. Oh and I'm still swelling too :( My feet swell all the time!! I know it's just getting geared up, so hopefully it stays in the feet and lower legs...sure don't want it moving up to the rest of my body!!
