The surgeon, Dr Danny Little, was great! He went over everything with us during pre-op, was very open about what was going to happen and about how long it would take. Originally he stated that surgery would last about 30 minutes and Dylan would only be away from us about 45 minutes. We carried Dylan to the operating room doors and handed him off to the nurses...probably the single hardest thing I have ever done in my life! Surgery took a little longer than expected, it took about 1 hour 15 minutes. I was on pins and needles when the 30 minutes passed, then 45, then an hour! We heard the anesthesiologist coming down the hall and felt some relief. She was coming to tell us that the surgery went well and that they were going to be waking him up and moving him to AICU (Acute ICU) in a few minutes, but she wanted to tell us he was ok. The surgeon came in about 15 minutes later and told us that the cyst was attached differently than expected and that's why it took longer. Rather than having a single root that attached to his skull, he had a root system that spread along his skull & they have to scrap all that off, so it took longer. We went up and saw him in his little bed hooked up to everything and the AICU nurses said he had already eating 4 ounces! He was a hungry fella when he woke up. We were able to go home that day, and I stayed home with him the next day just to make sure he was back to normal. The follow up a week later went well & the biopsy came out great! He said from our initial appointment to surgery it grew from the size of a pea to a lima bean. That's kind of quick! The incision looks great, and scaring should be minimal.
Everything went great, and afterwards everyone went to our house for supper!
I decided that I wanted to dress them up with a 'theme,' but was having a difficult time coming up with ideas...so I turned to Pinterest! I found the cutest idea to do Colton as a Redskins football player and Dylan as the football! Results = Pure cuteness!
He is concerned at the growth rate and would like to get it out as soon as possible before it causes any developmental issues with his skull. Originally he said he could do it October 24th...that's next week! But Auntie Kim is coming in from New York to meet the boys that weekend, so we scheduled it for November 10th instead. The surgery shouldn't be more than 30 minutes and recovery should be minimal. Kind of anxious to get it done, but I know it's what is best! We talked about the issues it can cause in the future if we delay getting it removed, but I was more concerned about him having to be put under for the surgery. My mom reminded me I had it done and everything was good, so to use that as a reassurance :) Working so far!Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12126445344037450665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6522475378140973971.post-38438055431745779812014-10-13T08:40:00.001-05:002014-10-13T08:40:51.981-05:00Week 1- 6 Flew By...Oh wow I can't believe how fast everything is going by now! I thought time flew by with Colton, everything is going twice as fast with Dylan! The first few weeks went really well, he is gaining weight like he should and is changing so much week to week. He looks sooo much like big brother!

Week 1:
Week 1 was a big adjustment in our house for everyone! We went from a family of 3 with a 2 year old, to a family of 4 with a 2 year old and a newborn. Dylan woke up every 2 to 3 hours to eat, and quickly has gone from 2 oz a feeding to 3! Colton is being such a great big brother too :) He is amazed by little brother and you can just see how he is amazed.

1 week old

Week 2:
At his 2 week check up all looked good. He is gaining weight like he should, and was up to 7.69lb and 19.5 inches long. Can't believe he grew an inch and a half in 2 weeks...that's like you're literally watching his grow if you look at him! He's still waking up a lot during the night to eat, and the day time is filled with snuggles while brother is a school and daddy is a work! We ventured out this week to see Gigi and Pops at their work and stopped by my work to show him off :)

Week 3/4:
We noticed a spot on his head that we originally thought was just a scratch is actually a strawberry birthmark, his is ironic because I had one on my arm! We are out and about a lot these days, meeting friends for lunch and just trying to keep busy...time sure is flying by!

Week 5:

1 month old! Can't believe a month has already gone by so quickly! Dylan is growing and changing so much...time needs to slow down already...

Week 6:
Dylan started daycare this week and I went back to work. It has been difficult adjusting to not being with him all day everyday, but I am getting back into routine at work so it is a little easier now. My parents noticed a bump on Dylan's right eyebrow that looked similar to a dermoid cyst that I had in my right eyebrow when I was 2. I took him to the pediatrician and we were referred to a pediatric surgeon in Temple, as the pediatrician agreed that it was a cyst. We go see the surgeon October 14th, and will know more then as to if he thinks he will need surgery, and if so how soon he will need it.
I started timing them at 3:24am...they were about 3 1/2 minutes apart and pretty intense. (I highly recommend the app "full term." It is easy to use, tells you the average length and how far apart the contractions are.) I decided not to wake Kyle up because I wanted to make sure they were the real deal...after all he would have to get up and go to work in a couple hours if it was a false alarm. He woke up around 4am asking what I was doing; needless to say he didn't go back to sleep after that :) We called my mom to ask her to take Colton to daycare around 6:00, then dropped him off just after 6:30. We got to the hospital around 7 and back to the triage room for monitoring shortly after that. They hooked me up to the machine to monitor contractions at 7:30 according to the strip they printed off and gave me...the strip was less than 10 minutes long! She checked to see how far I was, and she looked up and says 'what are you feelings of natural child birth?' I was like whhhhhy? 'You're a 7 almost an 8 and going to have this baby soon!' She unhooked everything and off to the L&D room we went. At this point contractions were unbearable and I was asking for pain meds...actually they had been unbearable for quite some time now! They got me in the room, hooked up, and the spinal in (no time for a full epidural), and within a few minutes of the spinal and a few pushes Dylan was born! It was super fast, but I wouldn't change that for anything!! I was up within a couple hours walking, and if they would have let me go home that day with him I think I would have!

I would like to introduce you to Dylan Scott :) He was born August 25, 2014, at 8:40am. He weighed 6lb 15oz and was 18 inches long!
After everyone left I gave Colton a bath and went to put him in bed. When I was carrying him to his bed, my water broke (so I thought). I called the on call doctor to let her know we were heading in, called my mom, dropped Colton off with my parents, and headed to Labor and Delivery. Once there, they hooked me up to the monitors and did an amnio test. I was having mild contractions, but nothing consistent, and I was still a 3 like I was on Thursday. We waited and waited for the amnio test to come back, and when it came back they said it was negative. I was totally confused. I was sitting in a puddle of fluid, fluid was leaking down my legs, and soaking wet. They said, no sorry, it isn't amniotic fluid, and is most likely pee. I was so mad! I stood up to get dressed and more fluid went down my leg puddling on the floor. The nurse was totally confused as well at this point. So they ran another amnio test. Again after waiting and waiting, it came back negative. Turns out I sat in triage for like 3-4 hours to find out that since Dylan dropped he was putting a ton of pressure on my bladder, causing me to leak almost continually, with no control. Their recommendation? Bladder control liners until delivery. Great..haha! Home we went...baby-less! Come on Baby D!
I had my 38 week appointment today and there was no progress! Still dilated to a 3 thinning. My doctor said that we would talk about inducing, but apparently my cervix isn't ready even though it is thinning; something about it isn't soft enough yet? Anyway, he said he would see me next week...yay! I am ready for Dylan to be here! I have felt like poo for the last week, exhausted more than normal, feeling horrible, and just all around not feeling like myself. Hopefully Baby D comes soon!!
I had my ultrasound on August 4th and got a sneak peek at Dylan :) All the measurements looked good, he looked healthy, and everything with me looked great as well. Turns out that my body shape/type is what is contributing to how I am carrying him; he is up under my ribs more than normal so I am not poking out as much as the 'normal' pregnant person. Also, we found out that he is measuring a week ahead of my due date...so he may be a big fella!

At my 37 week appointment on August 14th I was already dilated to 3cm, which is crazy because at my 36 week I was nothing! Just softening, and in a weeks time I thinned and went to a 3. The dr told me he gave me a week to 10 days tops, but of course I'm not holding my breath too much because Dylan will come when he's ready and not a moment sooner! Just strange to be walking around like that!!

Come on Little D! Momma is ready :)
I have been feeling the time crunch and have started working hard(ish) on the nursery! Everything has been going good for the most part. I had a routine appointment on Thursday with my ob, and he is concerned because I am measuring 1.5cm smaller than I should be at the point I am in this pregnancy. He has referred me for an additionally ultrasound to check for a few things:

Size of my uterus

Amniotic fluid levels

Position of Dylan

Size of Dylan

Any of which can contribute to measuring smaller than normal. I know 1.5cm doesn't sound like much, but 1 cm equals 1 week of growth; so that measure I'm measuring 1.5 weeks smaller than I should be at this point...so really 33.5 weeks not 35 weeks. It is a little nerve wracking, but my appointment is this morning so only a couple more hours! I just hope they can tell me if anything is wrong today and not make me wait until my next appointment with him Thursday. On the plus side, we get a sneak peek at the little fella! :)
My appointment Thursday went great! Dylan kept kicking the doppler when the dr was trying to listen to his heartbeat...apparently he didn't like it :) Everything is still going great! I have noticed that I am get tired out more easily and have a difficult time catching my breath when I walk a lot, but that is to be expected. It is becoming more painful when he moves around too, but he's running out of room in there so I understand! Still crazy to feel this little being moving around in there, don't know that it would amaze me any less if I was pregnant 20 times instead of 2! The time crunch has definitely hit me, so I have a long to-do and to-buy list going. Kyle was out of town for work for 2 weeks, so I didn't really even touch Dylan's room. I hope to hit it hard and heavy in the next week or so, so I can start tying up loose ends and getting everything ready...not too much longer! Here are a couple of belly pics :)
Last couple weeks have been uneventful, which seems to be a good theme for this pregnancy :) I've had minor things here and there, but nothing too terrible, which I'm not complaining about at all! I had an appointment last week and my blood pressure was back down to where it normally was with Colton; 123/70 something. Week 29 was rather uneventful in relation to Dylan, which is great :) Kyle and and I were both off this week, so we took a mini vacation to Sea World - San Antonio with Colton! He really enjoyed it!! The animals were really amazing! Colton especially loved the splash park that they had, he played and played in that thing for over an hour. Luckily, we had decided to let him play when we were getting ready to head home, so he was able to wear himself out good!! He was even talking about it the next day when we were already back home. The rest of the week Kyle and I worked on stuff around the house; Kyle outside and I in Dylan's room. I tell you...he will not be short on clothes by no means! I have stuff from Colton, as well as clothes that others have give me; I'm even giving some away to others that need clothes as well. It's getting so close and the anxiety is starting to set in...along with the nesting :)
Baby Dylan is doing great! I had my 28 week appointment yesterday, which included the awesome glucose and Rhogam shot, so the day was full of awesomeness haha! I did get a sneak peek at him too, so I was super excited about that :) I had some bleeding earlier this week and called the on call doctor since it was after hours and she said it can be normal at this point during pregnancy, but to mention it at yesterdays appointment. So about an hour before the appointment I started having horrible braxton hicks that stopped me in my tracks for a bit and moved around to my back. When they finally stopped I was cramping and my back was still sore. I mentioned it to my doctor when I was there and he wanted to do an ultrasound to check my cervix and make sure I wasn't dilating too soon. Everything looked great (even told me to eat ice cream to get my blood sugar back up after the glucose test...doctors orders!!), and Dylan's little head was right on top of my cervix; so I got to see his head and little profile :) made my heart flutter a little to get a sneak peek!!
Yeah so apparently life/time goes by so much faster with pregnancy 2+! I didn't realize that it had been over a month since I last did an update. All is well though! Baby boy is growing as expected, and I have finally begun to get a belly, so yay! Colton turned 2, which is pure craziness to think that he is already 2!! Seems like just yesterday we were starting the journey with him, and here I am starting to see the light at the end of the pregnancy #2 tunnel! Time goes by so fast, so be sure to treasure every moment that you have :)
I'm feeling a lot better this week than I did last week. I am still super tired, but that is to be expected when you're growing a little person on the inside and chasing a little person on the outside! Baby dos seems to be more active this week too, which is a love/hate thing. I love to feel him moving around, don't get me wrong, but I hate when I'm at work and he starting playing kickball with my bladder! I know it's just a phase and he will calm down, so I try to cherish the active moments and not be to irritated by the oh crap I gotta go moments :) haha!

So this morning I was taking a belly picture after I got ready for work, and Colton came in and was watching me. When I was satisfied with one, I looked at him and he pulled his shirt up and said 'my turn momma!' So here's that cuteness!
I can't believe it has been so long since my last update! The last 3 weeks had been pretty uneventful until earlier this week. I started feeling icky, not sick, just like something wasn't right. I happened to have my 20 week appointment today, so I was basically feeling like 'as long as I make it to Thursday all will be good.' At my appointment today, I told my dr how I have been feeling; extremely weak, tired, no appetite, not feeling like myself, having braxton hicks and being a little disoriented. I told my dr all of this today, and he basically said 'yep you're pregnant welcome to the 2nd half of pregnancy!' I was like oh gee thanks! I still think something more is wrong that 'being pregnant', so I'm going keep an eye on myself and see. He said to get more rest and drink more water. I was like well okay I'm doing that, but still feeling crappy. So I dunno. My bp was up a little today, 134/78. I talked with my nurse about it, and she said they don't get concerned until it gets to 140+. I know that 140 is technically considered high, but 134 is high for me considering my bp is normally 115-120. I just don't want to end up with pre-eclampsia or anything, so I'm going to do what I can to keep it low; drink more water, eat fresh foods, cut down on sodium, stop drinking soda, etc. Hopefully that will help! I just worry about these Texas summer's I'm going into...Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12126445344037450665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6522475378140973971.post-87144635185617250942014-04-01T15:39:00.001-05:002014-04-01T15:39:17.284-05:00Ultrasound PicturesWe had our ultrasound today, and while the baby was not too cooperative we were able to tell that Colton will have a little brother! The past two weeks have been pretty crazy at work and at home both! I had my 16 week appointment March 27th and I got to hear the heartbeat again...so in love with that sound! I then got a call on Friday to say that my ultrasound would be April 1st; yes April Fool's day! I was like awesome can't wait!! I have been having issues with my sciatica nerve, but I had that issue with Colton as well I just wish there was so sort of relief for it! The dr just says to relax and stay off my feet, but that there isn't much I can do for it since it's just the baby putting pressure on the nerves in my lower back; oh well that's one of the sacrifices I will make!

People tell me that I don't look like I'm showing, but I totally see it!
Last week I thought I felt the baby moving, and thought I would wait a couple days and see if I noticed it again; sure enough I did! It happens almost every night now when I lay down to go to sleep :) It isn't strong enough for anybody but me to feel it at this point, and secretly I kind of like that...makes it just mine for the time being! I realized the other day talking with my best friend that I am only a couple weeks away from finding out if the baby is a boy/girl. I got the DR the 27th, and will schedule the ultrasound at that appointment for within the next 2 weeks, and assuming the baby is cooperative we should find out! So exciting! Time is going by so much faster this time than with Colton. I remember with Colton the first trimester was never ending, and I was thinking wow 4 whole weeks between appointments AND 2 weeks until the ultrasound. Now I'm like wow only 4 weeks between appointments AND my ultrasound is only 2 weeks away! It is all flying by so fast...not sure 5 more months is enough time to get everything done that I need to do!Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12126445344037450665noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6522475378140973971.post-37895894751262994102014-03-09T09:34:00.000-05:002014-03-18T09:37:04.231-05:00Bump-Date #2: Week 14Baby Size: 3.5"; Lemon
Luckily my energy is still here! Just in time for my niece to come stay a few days with me over Spring Break! Yay :) Hopefully she'll enjoy a few days with us and a few days break from her little brother, hehe. I started feeling bad in church today. When I was pregnant with Colton I would feel like I was going to pass out, I would see stars, get hot, and then have to sit down. However, this time around I started feeling sick, like weak and ill...kind of strange. Not sure if that my 'thing' with this pregnancy or not...we shall wait and see!Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12126445344037450665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6522475378140973971.post-52358373242799646932014-03-05T16:52:00.001-06:002014-03-05T16:52:20.181-06:00Bump-Date #2: Week 13Baby Size: 3"; Medium Shrimp

This week has been great! I have been feeling good...starting to get some energy back :) Poor Colton has an ear infection and RSV, so I was home with him for a couple days, but other than that all is going good! We had our 12 week check up yesterday and go to hear the little bean's heartbeat; 163bmp and strong! We go back in 4 weeks, and at that appointment we will make the ultrasound appointment to hopefully find out if it's a he or she...so less than 6 weeks away! I remember when I was pregnant with Colton everything seemed to take longer. The first trimester never seemed like it would end, and hearing 6 more weeks until finding the gender seemed like an eternity. Now it's like only 6 weeks! This pregnancy is flying by so much faster, and I'm really enjoying that to be honest :)

Baby Weight: <0.5oz

Week 11 is starting off relatively quiet and uneventful..which is great! I haven't had any bleeding in about a week, which is great :) I am starting to getting a little bump, but I'm thinking only I can really notice the change so far. Clothes are getting snugger by the day. We called my Granny and told her Friday night, and that phone call was followed by an email to my aunts letting them all know as well. Then today, Colton wore a cute "Big Bro" shirt to school to let people at his school and my work know.
It was easier the first time because I would go home, kick back, rest, and type my blog; but now it's craziness at home with Colton running around :) Good crazy!

Week 10:
Baby Size: 1"; Kumquat
Baby Weight: <0.5oz
*********************
Bleeding is starting to slow down, and only happened at the start of the week, which is great! I'm trying to take it a little easier and still not worry! Been super tired though! Can't wait until our next appointment on the 27th to hear the little boogers heartbeat!

Week 9:
Baby Size: <1"; Grape or Olive
Baby Weight: <0.5oz
*********************
I've started noticing certain pants are fitting tighter, but I'm better most of that is bloat and/or weight gain than baby since it's still so small! I did manage to get my maternity clothes out of the storage shed...not washed but out of the shed so that's one step closer. Maybe I'll have energy later in the week to actually wash them and get them hanging in the closet.

We're starting to talk about the transition for Colton. We want to make this as smooth and stress-less as possible. The big decision this week was, do we keep Colton's room 'Coltons' or do we move him to a new room and keep his current room the baby room. After a couple nights of talking about it, we decided to keep Colton's room 'Coltons.' We've even gotten him to start calling it his room, so when he calls us we ask where are you? He chimes back my roooooom :) super cute!

Week 8:
Baby Size: <1"; Kidney Bean
Baby Weight: <0.5oz
*********************
I'm slowing finding out that there are things I can't eat...like physically I cannot make myself eat baked chicken. Or chicken that has the consistency of baked chicken...cannot do it! It grows and grows in my mouth to the point that I feel like I'm going to gag. Which stinks because I really like chicken and use to eat it a lot with Colton. I'm still bleeding off and on, but trying not to worry, as the doctor reassures me that everything is okay. The bleeding changes from spotting to a period like flow from day to day...hour to hour really. Hoping this ends soon or I will end up in the looney bin by the time baby #2 gets here!!Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12126445344037450665noreply@blogger.com0
